Overview:

The Agri Trader (Derivatives) will play a pivotal role in executing and managing derivatives trading activities in the agri market. Operating within a fast-paced and competitive environment, the trader will utilize their expertise to capitalize on market opportunities, manage risks, and deliver profitable outcomes for the company.

Key Responsibilities:

Derivatives Trading:

  1. Execute trades in agri derivatives markets, including futures, options, and swaps.
  2. Develop and implement trading strategies to capitalize on market trends and arbitrage opportunities.
  3. Monitor market conditions and news events to make informed trading decisions.
  4. Manage positions and exposure effectively to optimize risk-adjusted returns.

Market Analysis:

  1. Conduct thorough market analysis to identify trading opportunities and assess risk factors.
  2. Stay informed about geopolitical developments, supply-demand dynamics, and regulatory changes affecting the agri market.
  3. Utilize quantitative models and tools to evaluate market trends and forecast price movements.

Market Making

Provide continuous buy and sell prices for agricultural products to ensure liquidity and competitive pricing across key agricultural commodities.

Risk Management:

  1. Implement risk management strategies to mitigate market, credit, and operational risks.
  2. Monitor and analyse portfolio performance, P&L, and risk metrics.
  3. Adhere to risk limits and compliance guidelines set by the company and regulatory authorities.

Relationship Management:

  1. Build and maintain relationships with counterparties, brokers, and other market participants.
  2. Collaborate with internal teams, including research, operations, and compliance, to ensure smooth execution of trades and adherence to policies.

Reporting and Documentation:

  1. Maintain accurate records of trades, positions, and transactions.
  2. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on trading activities, P&L, and risk exposure.
  3. Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements and internal audit standards.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, mathematics, or a related field. Advanced degree or CFA/FRM designation is a plus.
  2. Proven experience in derivatives trading, preferably in the agri market, with a track record of success.
  3. Strong analytical skills and quantitative abilities, including proficiency in Excel, VBA, and statistical software.
  4. Excellent understanding of derivatives pricing models, risk management techniques, and trading strategies.
  5. Knowledge of global energy markets, including supply chains, refining operations, and trading infrastructure.
  6. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of adaptability and resilience.
  7. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and build relationships with external partners.
