Key Roles and Responsibilities of Successful Candidate
- To oversee and effectively manage the Oil Offtake function as Terminal Operator whilst separately and independently acting for the company in their capacity.
- The role requires disciplined and clear division between the two roles with the ability to act strictly within the boundaries laid down in the Crude Oil Agreements and to be fully accountable towards partners for actions taken as Terminal Operator.
- Key responsibilities include coordination of all offloading operations from the fields in Africa, generating and managing lifting schedules on behalf of the Joint Venture Partners, and managing relationships with buyers and term contract partners on both operated and non-operated assets.
- Work closely with subsurface and offshore teams and other stakeholders to generate and manage lifting schedules and offtake operations from the Jubilee and TEN fields in Africa.
- Monitor deviations versus forecast, stocks, vessel ETAs, and nominations on a daily basis, and react promptly to advance or defer lifting dates as necessary to minimize demurrage and mitigate against tank top exposure.
- Work closely with finance and planning departments to run and optimize forward-looking lifting schedules, within the parameters of COLA.
- Oversee vessel operations, including timely nominations, vessel vetting activity, monitoring documentary instructions, and ensuring terminals are provided with clear instructions.
- Manage allocation of cargo splits in respect of different fields and in line with pooling arrangements.
- Monitor loading operations and act as the focal point for quality and quantity (Q&Q) disputes, liaising with partners or customers as necessary.
- Manage and negotiate demurrage and Q&Q claims on behalf of the terminal and keep accurate and up-to-date records of claims and liabilities.
Other Responsibilities Include:
- Monitoring cargo pricing, timely opening of credit instruments, and ensuring conformity of documents in line with Letters of Credit
- Chairing weekly Jubilee and TEN meetings
- Convening and chairing annual and ad-hoc Shipping Forums with partners
- Allocating and supervising duties across London and Africa-based Offtake teams
- Monitoring and reporting performance against KPIs
- Providing budget input for all Offtake activity and services
- The position requires on-call duty on a rota basis to respond to unplanned events or incidents.
Experience & Education
Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of crude oil shipping operations at onshore and offshore terminals
- Familiarity with crude oil lifting and sale agreements
- In-depth knowledge of demurrage and quantity/quality claim handling
- Fundamental knowledge of the freight market and chartering processes, including freight calculations (Worldscale / AFRA / freight market)
- Clear understanding of the underlying principles of oil allocation
- Strong numerical and spreadsheet skills
